1st Birthday Party Planning
1st Birthday Party Planning Guide
A child’s 1st Birthday is special and marks the beginning of a new life with new opportunities. There are some fun things that happen at a 1st Birthday that do not happen with birthdays after.
Get a Smash Cake: One of the most notable things a 1st Birthday has that another birthday doesn’t is what is known as a smash cake. This cake is completely different from the cake guests will eat. It is a small, individual cake that you hand to your 1 year old to play in. Be warned- it is very messy and a ton of fun! It will probably be some of the best pictures you ever take.
Decorations: Most first birthdays have a kids them or simply baby blue or baby pink. Many parents choose to pick a cute TV character such as Elmo to theme the party after. Refrain from having balloons on the ground or near ground level so little ones cannot choke on them in the event they pop.
Plan a Location: Make sure you select a place that is kid friendly when doing your party planning. Most 1st Birthday parties are done at the house or a family members house; usually the home that is larger so that all guests are comfortable. Choosing to do a home party for a child’s 1st birthday is often a good idea because with all the excitement, they may get tired or cranky and when that happens, you have somewhere to lay them down.
