Clambake Party Planning
There's nothing like hosting a good beach party, but consider the amount of effort involved in Clambake party planning before getting started. You need to find a beach where it's legal to cook food on the sand, you'll need to find enough food for all of the guests, learn the proper method for steaming clams on the beach and also invite everyone! A big part of the party planning for a Clambake is simply dealing with the logistics involved in getting the event set up.
Along the coast there are many beaches that allow some cooking on the sand and bonfires. Start calling around to see if there's a place that will allow you to host a Clambake. However, a private beach is probably your best bet. If you don't have any private access to the water consider using a friend's beach. Offer to pay for their beach and certainly invite them to the celebration. If you don't know anyone with beach access you may be able to speak with some people in the area who do about the possibility of renting access for a Clambake.
Once you have the venue organized you'll need to focus on securing food for the party. If you're hosting a large event it's probable that you will need a couple dozen clams or more. People do get hungry at these things and tend to overdo it. If there is a local fish market in your area you may be able to secure an order large enough for your purposes. Although, it's likely you'll need to speak with someone at the fish market, your local grocery store and deli or find a wholesaler who can sell you a large batch of fresh clams when you need it. If you get them too early though, you'll also need to store those clams someplace for a little while before baking.
After securing food and the venue for your party it will be a cinch to organize everything else. Don't forget to get enough fuel for your Clambake and make sure to ask guests to layer their clothing for the beach weather. |
