Luau Party Planning
Party planning for a Luau is easy. All you really need are some tropical drinks, guests in Hawaiian shirts and a roast pig. Of course, it may be harder to get that roast pig than you expected. They don't exactly sell whole pigs at the store.
If you are really determined to put a roast pig on the menu for an authentic luau, it's possible to find them. Try calling local farms and meat warehouses to see if they'll sell you one. You may also be able to talk with the manager at your local store's meat counter and work something out. They'll have connections with the warehouses and wholesalers that you don't.
When ordering a roast pig for your luau party make sure that is will show up on time. If you get it several days before the party you are going to need to have a place to store it as well as a way to transport it. Again, your local grocer or warehouse may be able to keep for you until the day of the Luau.
That pig is going to need a long time to cook too. So, you'll want to set it up over the fire or grill early in the day to start cooking. Along with that early start time you'll need enough fuel to keep a fire going all day. Check with your grocer or warehouse for information about how long it will take to cook that pig and how much fuel you'll need. With the proper luau party planning, it will be a cinch to get a roast pig for your party guests. |
