The National Council of Women’s Organizations (NCWO) is a 501c3 nonpartisan, nonprofit coalition that represents over 11 million women across the United States. More than 200 member organizations collaborate through policy work and grass roots activism to address issues of concern to women, family and work, economic equity, education, affirmative action, corporate accountability, reproductive freedom, women’s health, and many more. The National Organization For Women (NOW) is the largest organization of feminist activists in the United States. NOW has 500,000 contributing members and 550 chapters in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The purpose of NOW is to take action to bring about equality for all women with focuses on eliminating discrimination and harassment in the workplace, secure abortion, birth control and reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women, promote equality and justice in society and many other issues, not only regarding women, but society in general.
Those who love the Red Hat Society of other organizations that help promote positive actions in the community may be inclined to start their own group. The best way to begin a social club is deciding what theme or purpose in mind. For example, perhaps cooking, art, dancing, or religion is the central themes. Expand the group beyond friends, post meeting dates on social networking sites flyers in the local area, and get the word about the club. Every club/organization has to begin somewhere so do not worry if meetings only consists of a few people to begin with because overtime it can grow substantially (if those are the intentions). Keep the meetings interesting with theme nights with party supplies and decorations as well.
