If you love Rosh Hashanah, then Los Angeles, California, is the place to visit. Aside from boasting a number of Jewish neighborhoods, Los Angeles is home to The Museum of Tolerance, a Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum.
As Rosh Hashanah is a time of both celebration and remembrance, it is a time best spent at a renowned center of historical preservation. Established in 1993, The Museum of Tolerance, a Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum, uses a number of interactive exhibits (including the popular “Finding Our Families, Finding Ourselves” and the Tolerancenter) to teach visitors about the Holocaust and other key events in Jewish history. Some of the museum’s current exhibits, including Para Todos Los Ninos: For All the Children: Fighting Segregation in California, serve to cast further light on the Jewish experience.
Beyond the museum, the city of Los Angeles features a number of special neighborhoods that are rife with Jewish history and culture. The Pico-Robertson neighborhood, for instance, offers a number of synagogues, kosher markets, Judaica stores, etc.
While celebrating Rosh Hashanah in Los Angeles, California, one should always make time for a celebration of the Jewish holiday; one that comes complete with a vast array of theme-related party supplies. These could include miniature Dreidels, as well as an assortment of napkins, plates, goblets, table coverings, etc., emblazoned with images of the Star of David. Guests might bring their decorative Yarmulkes to wear, or perhaps some fun Mazel Tov stove top hats. Celebratory Mazel Tov maracas would make another nice touch, as would paper streamers and metallic columns in shades of blue and ivory.
