A slumber party is incredibly fund because it gives girls an opportunity to stay up, do each other’s hair, have pillow fights and talk about boys. A slumber party in a home is fun but why not try a location that is a bit more interesting like a museum. Which museums offer overnight slumber party opportunities?
Museums to consider for an overnight slumber party include the Natural History Museum Los Angeles Country - Overnight Adventures. Group Overnight Adventures are designed for groups of 10 or more with an adult to child ratio of 1:6. Groups smaller than 10 can participate in the Family Overnight Adventures. Museum of Science Boston – Overnight Program. The Overnight Program is for students in grades 1 - 7 and their adult chaperones (no private groups or individuals).Museum of Science + Industry Chicago – Snoozeum. Snoozeums are open to groups of both boys and girls, ages 7 to 12. One adult chaperone must accompany every five children. Groups must have a minimum of 10 persons. Explora: Albuquerque, New Mexico is a science center and part children’s museum. Explora overnights are for groups of 1st-8th graders and their adult chaperones. There is a maximum of 60 students. One adult chaperone is required for every six students.
While not a museum, an interesting overnight slumber party stay for children’s ages 9-16 (with adult chaperones of course) is Bluesprings Caverns in Bedford, Indiana offers an overnight adventure from October 1 to April 30. Also, the Battleship New Jersey, aka BB-62, now located in Camden, New Jersey offers visitors an unusual overnight stay in the same sailors’ bunks sailor’s stayed in.
Lighthouses also make for a great over night slumber party as well. Lighthouses generally have a rich, interesting (and sometimes-haunted history) that children will find appealing. A slumber party can also be held in the privacy of one’s home with party supplies, movies, and roasted marshmallows.
