Work Party Planning
Work parties are always a little uncomfortable at first, so the party planning for these events is important. Many people aren't entirely sure how to act during an office party, or whether they'll really enjoy one or not. No one wants to do something that might anger the boss later on. So, make sure your plans for that event aren't too wild. A semi-casual and relaxed atmosphere is best for the work party.
You'll want to pick out party decorations dependent on the industry you work in or the holiday that's being celebrated. The most commonly celebrated events in the office are birthdays, retirements, promotions and end of the year parties for New Year's and Christmas. If you are in charge of in office events consider stocking up on decorations that are suited for these above events. Paper plates, napkins and plastic utensils are the best choices for your silverware. Don't forget the garbage bags as regular office trash bags aren't likely to hold all of the debris.
A cake and non-alcoholic drinks are usually all you need for your party. Many guests will have problems with sugar though, so a few alternative pick up appetizers are all you'll need to sooth their feathers. Consider cheese and crackers or a cheese dip and crackers. Pretzels and popcorn and even potato chips are all popular party fair.
Let the guests serve themselves buffet style in the conference room or any large room that will accommodate the workers. When party planning make sure to schedule time in that room well before the event, especially if you are part of a large business with a number of divisions. This way you'll be certain to have the room for your work party. |
